We were in the same high school, Hoerskool Noordheuwel. We knew about each other in Grade 8, but officially met in Grade 9 when we were both in the same class. We got along from the beginning and were friends from the moment we met. Six months down the line, he got the guts to ask me out (2nd June 2000) just after second break! We ended up going out all through high school and ended up going to the same university – University of Pretoria. We went through our ups and downs during varsity, but at the end our love conquered all and 9 years and 6 months later, he asked me to marry him.

On the 18th December 2009, he proposed: Three months prior to the proposal, he told me that we had to attend a friend’s wedding (a friend who I didn’t know) on the weekend in Thabazimbi. I wasn’t looking forward to it, as I didn’t know anyone. When the time came, he told me to get my hair done in Hartebeespoort Dam especially for the “wedding” to spoil myself! He played golf in Brits whilst I had my hair done. My girlfriend, who lives in Brits came to pick me up at the hairdresser and drop me off at the golf course. I walked around with him and at a specific tee, he suggested that I also take a chance at hitting the ball. After this, he went down on one knee and taking out the most gorgeous ring in the world, he asked me to marry him! Obviously, I said yes …. we then went to where a golf cart was waiting for us, with a bottle of Champagne. He then told me that there was no wedding and that we would be staying at a lodge in Thabazimbi – it was very special and a total surprise!

Ten years and four months later, we said “I Do” at Oakfield Farm and what a day it was. They day and the team were definitely first class – no doubt, the best day of our lives!!
