Keith and I met 6 years ago. My sister, Jo was dating one of Keith’s friends and we saw each other a few times. It was only after my sister and I joined Keith and Dion on a very wet, rainy day when they were competing in a 4 x 4 competition. Jo and I stayed through the whole competition and ended up soaked to the bone. In between the obstacles, Keith and I got to chat a bit. We both had such a good time and laughed a lot. After that Keith got my contact details from Jo and asked me out. After our second date, I knew that I would/could spend the rest of my life with him. He is so amazing and I am very lucky.

Keith proposed on 24th December 2008 on the rocks at the beach in Hermanus. It was so special and I was so surprised! Keith had actually wanted to propose the day before when we arrived in Hermanus, but it was raining and very windy, so a walk on the beach wouldn’t work. The next morning I couldn’t understand why Keith was so keen to go for a walk first thing in the morning and without any of his family. We walked a bit and then sat on a bench overlooking the sea, where he proposed! I couldn’t wait to get back to the house to share the news with all our friends and family.

The year leading up to the wedding has been really tough. Keith got sick in February last year and is still sick now. Hopefully, the op he had yesterday was the second last he will need. So, Keith battled a bit to be excited about the wedding and it was touch and go whether we would have to postpone or not. Luckily Keith was feeling okay (not 100%) on the day of the wedding. The wedding day was so perfect, largely thanks to Oakfield Farm and my friends and family who are just amazing. Everything went like clockwork and we didn’t need to worry about anything. The DJ kept everyone on the dance floor, the food was great and everyone had so much fun. So many of our friends and family commented on how our wedding was the best wedding that they had ever been to. We were both so happy and had such a good time, and it was fantastic to hear that everyone else had a great time too!
